To all Parents and Students As of January 1, of 2004 a student must be 15 1/2 in order to apply for a learner's permit. When applying you must bring proof of having completed driver ED. At Safestway Driving School you can for $2.00 get a student license and take the lessons as you can afford them. With a student license you can only drive (Practice) with an instructor from Safestway Driving School. At the end of the 6th hour you will be presented with a completion certificate for driver training. Together with your DE and DT certificates, birth certificate, proof of social security number, a DL 44 form (DMV Applications Form) Signed by a parent/s or guardian, and $31.00, you can present your self to the DMV and apply for your learners permit.
