If your under 18, California law states that in order to take a driving test you must have completed both driver education and driver training, practiced with parents or some one over the age of 25 for 50 hours behind the wheel, held your permit for 6 months and be 16 years of age. Driver training consist of a 6 full hours of behind the wheel and must be conducted by a credential driver training teacher or a California state licensed driving instructor. Safestway Driving School gives training in increments of 2 hours lessons for 3 sessions. We will pick you up at home, work, or school, and take you back after your lesson at no extra charge. Lessons are available 7 days a week from 8am to 9 pm. Safestway Driving School accepts Visa, Master card, and Discover card. If paying by check it must be made out to Safestway Driving School. All new and late model cars used for training are insured for 1 million dollars, dual controlled, air conditioned, and impeccably maintained. If you take driver education at Safestway the cost for driver training is only $330.00. However, if you took driver education somewhere else the cost for driver training is $360.00. Procedure After completing driver Education, you must acquire a certificate of enrollment in driver training. In order to do this you must prepay for driver training. Upon receiving your certificate of enrollment and scheduling your driving lessons (6 hours given in increment of 2 hours sessions) students can present themselves to the DMV and take the written test in order to acquire the learners permit. If you are not 15 1/2 and would like to get a head start and do drivers training. Safestway Driving School can issue you a student license that allows you to take driving lessons with an instructor from Safestway Driving School. A student license does not allow you to practice with any one other that an instructor from Safestway.

You will need to take the following items with you when you apply for a learners permit: Original or certified copy of birth certificate or valid US passport, proof of social security card, OL237, proof of completion of driver education, EEDL392, proof of enrollment for driver training.
