Driver Education and Training

California state law requires all applicants for license under the age of 18 to take driver education and driver training.

Driver ED consists of 30 actual classroom hours and Driver Training is 6 hours behind the wheel.

Safestway Driving School holds classes during the school year on Saturdays and Sundays and all school holidays, spring break, Thanks giving Christmas or any 4 day break in the school schedule Saturday and Sunday classes are held for four consecutive Saturdays or Sundays, Class times are held from 8:30 AM to 3:40 PM with a 30 minute break for lunch. You must attend all class in order to receive a completion certificate for driver Education. If you are 15 years old but not 15 1/2 you can take driver's education but will not be able to get a learners permit until you are 15 1/2, However if you would like to get a head start and do driver training, Safestway Driving School can issue you a student license that allows you to take driving lessons with an instructor from Safestway Driving School. A student license does not allow you to practice with any one except an instructor from Safestway Driving School.

Upon completion of driver education and enrolment in driver training you may apply for your learners permit. The cost for driver education is $99.00

If you're under 18, in order to take a driving test you must have completed both driver education and driver training, practiced with parents or some one over the age of 25 for 50 hours held your permit for 6 months, and be 16 years old.  Safestway driving school gives training in increments of two hour lessons for 3 sessions, we will pick you up at home work or school and take you back after your lesson at no charge , lessons are available 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm. Safestway Driving School accepts Visa, Master Card and Discover. If paying by check it must be made payable to : Safestway Driving School. All late model cars used for training are insured for 1 million dollars, duel controlled, air conditioned as impeccably maintained. If you take driver Ed with Safestway, driver training is only $330.00 Total cost for driver training & driver education is $429.00, however if you took/take driver education somewhere else the cost for driver training is $360.00

You will need to take the following items with you when you apply for a learners permit: Original or certified copy of birth certificate or valid US passport, proof of social security card, OL237, proof of completion of driver education, OL392, proof of enrolment for driver training. DL-44 form signed by parent of guardian.
